DOH - nearly dropped it standing still ffs

    bugger !!!

I run the GS1000 to the shops last night

In a hurry I dont bother with the centre stand - I just chuck it on the side stand...

I let the bike lean waiting for it to grip...

    ffs - it keeps leaning

    ...and leaning

geebuz - now Im actually havin trouble holding it Im like wtf...

so I use all my strength and reef it back up - chit that was heavy...

musta had it on a soft piece of bitumen....

I check the side stand... kick it down agin... omg it goes forward

    cant be right ?!?!

crank it back - put it into the normal position and rest the bikes weight on it agin...

geebuz - it goes down like a $2 hoe agin - almost to the ground... but I grab it agin - still holding it by one bar - and wrestle the thing up agin...

omfg that hurt - pulled some serious muscle chit in my back...

just able to get it on the center stand I see the problem...

the securing bolt (#14 in the piccy below) aint there ?!?!?!

the whole side stand is free ballin ffs
    .
    .
    .
    .
my questions (stoopid as they may be)

    1) is there supposed to be a nut to secure this or does it screw str8 into the subframe somehow (Icant bend over to see at them moment)

    2) it says bolt size 10x27 - but is it a standard metric thread type or do I need to get courser/deeper thread

thx for your help - the little i know always amazes meh ffs

Dropping it standing still is a sight better than dropping it at speed.

    Trust me.

I just couldn't resist. Hope you heal up soon.

But let me just point out that I go down at speed and walk away unscathed. You almost drop her while parking and are gimped.

No comment, just pointing it out,...*

Get thee to a chiropractor, at least get an MRI of your back.

I dropped my 750 TZ and hauled it up without thinking. Result was three bulging disks and sciatica (not reccomended) for six months (tried cortezone shots to the spine etc first) before I found the chiro'. Two visits a day four days a week for six weeks and I was 95% pain free and back on the bike.

                    Phark!!!
Yes mate standard metric thread, no nuts required screws into the frame, I suggest some loctite for your backs sake.

Phark, Dink's right... HOWEVER. I've seen those threads go byebye. When I got my bike one hole didn't have threads at all. Damned If I know where they went; all I know is that one bolt was missing and there wasn't any threads for it to screw into.

We went down to the hardware store and got a concrete anchor, the kind where you screw in the bolt and it expands. We had to shorten and grind it a bit with a dremmel to get it to fit, but once we got it sized right and tapped it in with a hammer, the bolt went in and held very firm. If your threads are MIA, this might be an option for you.

                          Cheers

I don't think there's anything to stop that.
