Are half-moon end plugs in cylinder head rubber or plastic?

Just a quick question for someone out there that knows. I am wondering about the half-moon end plugs in the cyclinder head supposed to be soft rubber or hard plastic?

Mine are really hard like plastic. While I was re-installing the cylinder head, I noticed that the manually called them rubber plugs, so I thought that I better get new ones if they are supposed to be soft. I have several little parts that I am ready to order, so I want to get the order in ASAP, once I know if I need new plugs.

    Thanks

I just changed mine. They're hard even when new. The new ones feel like rubber coated plastic. I'll cut one up and let you know. Change 'em anyway, cheap insurance. :-D

So is the outside a little bit soft, so it can make a seal?

Yep, rubber coated metal. I cut one open myself once! Pretty hard metal too.
