    gs 16 valve cranks...

    i have a gs1100e with a spun crank. what cranks interchange relatively easily?

    80-83 chain driven, sixteen valve, 1100 motors.
    1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
    1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

      All of them interchange, there are differences in the left hand crank end though,, early is 31mm where the starter gear sits and has a 1in 7 taper for the stator rotor, late has a 35mm starter gear area and a 1 in 5 taper, you need to be aware of this as, and which one yours is, and/or get the starter gear and stator rotor with the "new" crank. Also the real Katana's are GS engined and run a smaller stator (1/2" IIRC) Later 1150 will also go in, you will need new pistons as 1150 run 20mm piston pins, versus 18mm on all earlier cranks LH crank end is the same as late GS though, you will also need the 1150 clutch basket as the primary drive ratio is different.
