      i would stick with the studs. that way if you strip one all you got to do is replace the stud. if you strip the threads on the motor your in for a long fix.

        success (I think)

        Well I've managed to remove the 2 studs with the bad threads. Temporarily replaced them with some 6mm stainless hex-heads I had on hand. Think I'll have to order some new ones as can't find them locally at h/w stores. Will venture out tomorrow to see if the oil stays in...
