    Low oil pressure??!

    Hello guys,
I fired up my bike and let it run for quite along time. The oil temp guage was reading like at 170ish and I was fiddling with the idle adjust. When I brought it low I noticed that my Oil light was flickering on and off. I was wondering if this is OK. I know that the oil gets thicker at higher temps, so I was curious if this is ok, or not. Here is a video of the guages as it is happening. You can see as I give it a bit of throttle the oil pressure light goes off.

I don't think that what you are getting is bad, if you are running cold, and at the lower than normal RPM. Does it do it when it is warm at say 1000RPM? It looked like you were idling at about 500rpm. That is way to low. The oil will thin as it gets warmer. Is your oil level good?
If you are concerned (must be since your asking), swap in a new sending unit and see if it still does it.

      Definitely worth checking into...

Just because the consequences are expensive. Sounds like it was a hot engine with a very low idle, that could make it light up depending on oil temp and viscosity. Has it ever lit up on a normal ride? At least check the pressure, could be a clogged screen in the sump or some wear in the oil pump.

Life is too short to ride an L.

The GS700 is plain brg crank, So it should have higher oil pressure. I would check sending unit first it is easiest. CHeck it with a mechanical gauge, check the idle, other wise Oil pickup screen, leaking O rings on the pump mounting worn oil pump (not likley unless you have 100K miles)

Distraction said that his does the same thing. He also has a gs 700. So I guess it is common, or... both are bikes are going to get wrecked.......
