I baught an "85" GS 550 "ES", for my wife. It was too tall for her, & with the monoshock design, I found no reasonable way to lower it. She now rides a Kaw 600 Eliminator, & it fits her perfectly, she loves it. Please forgive me, but when she's happy, I'm very happy.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. ZL600 Eliminator, 1999 Bandit 1200S, 2005 Bandit 1200S, 2000 Kaw. ZRX 1100

How much lower do you need? The seat on the GS550ES is square and makes it a little hard to get legs down. If you trim the edges a bit I"ll bet she feels the seat is INCHES lower.
Otherwise, the dogbones thing is good. You'd have to be crazy to be sane in this world -Nero
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back....... You probably highsided.
1980 GS550E (I swear it's a 550...)
1982 GS650E (really, it's a 650)
1983 GS550ES (42mpg again)
1996 Yamaha WR250 (No, it's not a 4 stroke.)
1971 Yamaha LT2 (9 horsepower of FURY.)

What you said is true. For example modern Honda CB500 is equal seat height with Kaw Er-5, but seat is much wider and my wife couldn't even think about riding with Honda.
