    gsxr750 front brakes to GS1100GK

    Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone has any idea if the fronk brake calipers from a 1988 GSXR750 will fit on a 1982 GK. There seem to be a few things from this bike that can be swapped over eg forks etc according to threads here, so how about just the brakes??? Some bloke is parting out a bike on ebay and there don't seem to be any rotors available, at least they don't come with the calipers...

The brakes on my current ride are particularly dreadful and I'm currently trying to locate steel lines to help improve feel but I seem to recall reading a thread here that suggested alternative brakes and what fits and what doesn't.

Anyway, I'm not made of money but I would like to be able to stop in a hurry if needed and at the present I sure can't afford new stuff. I also have a wobbly front end to sort out which could be any one (or more) things I have read about here. Hence I'm looking at new fork springs, fork oil etc... I do a lot of freeway travel commuting to work and if I take a steady bend in the road at 90 - 100kp/h or more the front starts weaving around (a bit disconcerting).

The front end is also really firm. I would like to hit a bump and not have the shock travel down my spine. There's not a lot of give in it at the moment but I'm hoping that new springs will sort that out.

Thanks in advance and ride safe,

Ok for braided brakelines go to www.braidedlines.com.au this will lead you to a local tradesman who can make them, he will need your old lines.
88 GSXR brakes will fit but you need to make adaptor plates, on my bike with spoked wheels ( I know yours is mags) I alos need to space out the discs so the calipers clear the spokes.

      Thanks Dink,

I tried the link but it didn't go anywhere. I found a few other places so I've sent off emails to a few, see how I go there.

Also I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to working on my own bike... what do you mean by adaptor plates? Would they be something I could do myself with my limited knowledge (hopefully expanding with the help from this site!!)? I'm also assuming if I got the new calipers there would be no point in getting braided lines for the current set up, I would have to match them to the GSXR brakes??

Would there be other brakes that would be more suitable, ie pretty much bolt on without fussing around?

      Thanks for the help

Wobble could be a bad front tire or even low tire pressure. I know it's time for new tires when I start to wobble a bit.
