    bad part from Flatout

I got a bad petcock from flatoutmotorcycles.com it leaks just as bad as the 20 year old kitted Yamaha petcock I was using. I've sent an email to Chris who i guess is their parts customer service and haven't received and email back. Does anybody here know which location I need to call. I saw their big disclaimer saying the reps on the phone are on commission and their time is valuable, so I don't want to waste somebodys time. Also is it stupid of me to expect any kind of warranty on something like this? The part was around 70 dollars and is useless. Should I be trying to contact Suzuki directly?

I have not used Flatout....yet. There prices are lower than most so please keep us informed of your situation. I would hope that they will replace it with a new one. Give them a chance to make things right before you shop elsewhere.

My office is about 20 minutes from there, so let me know if I need to go get medieval on someone...

Seriously, I'm sure they'll make it right. The online parts guy, Chris, even stops in on this forum every so often. The parts come from Suzuki's warehouses, probably in California, so there may be a delay in communication. The phone number is on the site if you need to call. The main location is the one on East Washington street, Indianapolis. I don't know which one Chris works from, though.

Where is it leaking? If it's coming from around the mounting flange, you may have a problem with the mounting surface on the tank or with the o-ring. If it's coming through the petcock itself, then Suzuki probably owes you a new part.

I've never had a bad experience with Chris from Flat Out. I've found him, and the company to be one of the best, if not THE best, for parts for my bike. I usually call him at 317-881-6686. I'm sure he'll make things right. I just bought a new petcock from him for my '82 GS850L and it works like a charm. Have no fear-these guys are more than legit.

Thought i would report a progress update on everything. Chris emailed me a return label and the defective petcock was sent back to flatout. He told me a replacement petcock was ordered, so hopefully that will show up soon. I must say, so far the customer service has been very good. I was expecting the run around big time and got everything taken care of without taking any crap. I've ordered several things from here but this is the first problem I've had. If everything works out, I will be a big supporter of Flatoutmotorcycles.com!

...hopefully I'm not speaking too soon.

I'm glad to know that how it turned out. I have ordered stuff from many places, over the years and it is always good to know of some place I haven't used, yet.

                Thanks!

                  gotta shop around

I have bought many things from flatoutmotorcycles and feel that they are very fair in price.
I plan to purchase some shims from http://www.z1enterprises.com/catalog...000LN-1979-EN1
because they are more reasonably priced and they also IMO are very reliable.
