    sprocket questions.

Well, I finally found a left side engine cover (front sprocket cover) for the 750 and now I'm fired up to get it on the road. One thing that's going to happen before it sees the outside of the garage is a 530 chain conversion. I'm planning on making this bike super aggressive with no long freeway trips at all. That's what the 850 and whatever modern bike I end up getting are for. Any advice on tooth counts front and rear? I'm definately a novice, but accelleration doesn't scare me. I'd also like to have the ability to see three digit speeds, but won't too often. I'd like to suprise folks on more powerful bikes by getting away from them off the line.
    Sage advice appreciated.

Here's a conversion I'm looking at on ebay that offers lots of choices for sprockets:

    Good price?

You want the oring chain, not the one they show the price for. Get a price for the set with an oring chain and repost. Then we would be better able to answer your question. Best of luck.

Thanks. How about an x ring chain? I see them as well.
I read a short article on Z1 enterprises' website about different types of o ring chains.
Looks like an xw or x is the way to go from what I can tell. How many links should I need?

X-Ring is the best value for money on most bikes - it give superb chain life and very good chain strength. Many riders will get 15,000-20,000 miles or more from a good X-ring chain (although much depends on how the bike is ridden and maintained).

Chain length is fairly easy to calculate - although it does vary based on the sprocket teeth counts you select.

When converting to 530 chain, many customers want to change the gearing - either to get more accelaration or more cruising speed. This is something you need to think about before moving forward.
