    stator or rectifier

K im doin the stator pages and it sayd that i have a bad connection because my ohm rating is too big. also when the bike is running, the papers say like 14 volts, but im only gettin close to 12. i've tried cleaning connections, doesn't really do anything, whats a quick fix, or should i just buy new stator and rectifier,

WHich step of stator paper fault finding chart are you on when you say ohms are too high?

Have you got to the step (last part of test B) where you disconnect the stator from the R/R and run bike and check voltage output from stator? That is the big test that tells you the most about the condition of the stator.

Well, yes, replacing everything would be a quick fix, but that is assuming the problem is either the stator or the R/R. But that is also the most expensive fix. And possibly the problem is a bad connection or bad ground somewhere, so replacing things may not fix anything. That is what some of the other steps in stator papers fault finding chart are trying to determine. So, what step are you on that you say the ohms are too high? And how much too high is the ohm reading?

Charging systems put out more than 12 volts. High 13's low 14's works out. Check your car they put out over 14 it is just the way it works.

If a batterry is fully charged it is up around 13 Volts. at 12 you are running on a fully charged battery
