    Replacement seat cover info.

I need to replace the seat cover on my 1978 GS750EC and was wondering where you all recommend buying a quality product.
I appreciate your wisdom and input.
    Thanks in advance!

I bought mine from my JC Whitney motorcycle catalog. It's a saddlemen cover, fits real well, no problems with it.:-D

      Covers

I've had a couple of them and thought both were very good. I'm going to need one pretty soon and think I'll buy from B&H Specialties. Check out their website...they look very good.

a related seat cover question: JCW solution?

        Hopefully this won't be considered a hijacked-thread:

I have a question or two more for you veterans who have recovered using these JCW items already:

Does the new product end up 'soft' and somewhat 'tacky'? Or, is it stiff and hard? My seat is rock hard (as in 25 year old naughyde-type-stuff would be), and very slick. I would replace it if it will allow me to sit more firmly on the saddle.

I know others have talked about adding padding, but I'm wondering if you did that or just slide it on over what you have for padding already?

Mine is supple, not sticky or tacky. It gets a little stiff in below freezing temps (and so do I:-D ), but that's about it. It came with a thin foam layer sandwiched under the vinyl, but the foam in my seat is getting so broken down now (even though it doesn't look it) that I'm going to buy the gel seat inserts this year. Saddlemen brand is supposed to be one of the best out there, and I've really had no complaints so far.

I have replaced two seat covers over the years. Both were Travelcade from either JCWhitney or Dennis Kirk catalog (dont recall). The Travelcade tried to match the original look/design with the stitching in the same pattern as was embosed in the stock seat, so somewhat looked like stock.

Biggest trick to installing it is to get it straight and to get it tight enough but not too tight.

If you have reasong to think about replacing it, I say best to do it sooner than later, before get any damage to the foam underneath. Its gonna need to be done at some point.
