O- ring on the needle jet?

I am rebuilding a BS32SS carburetor from a 1980 GS550E that has sat since 1984. In the Clymer repair manual it tells you to (6)slide the needle jet out of the carburetor body.(note the o-ring on the needle jet) I can not find the o-ring. Where should I be looking. Any help??????Boy have I learned alot from this web-site Thanks

I saw that too and it confused me also. I just ignored it because it doesn't make any sense.

They're either in or out (the jets), no o-rings to be found. The kits I used had thin flat washers that were to be used? :?
