    1983 GS750ES Carb Problems?

I am restoring a 1983 gs750es. The bike hasn't been running in well over 10 years. I just recently installed a new wiring harness and went through all of the carbs. The inside of the carbs looked to be in clean good condition all of the jets were clear and the floats were all set and adjusted properly. It starts perfecetly and keeps a solid consistent idle. However, when it starts and is revved up the idle stays high for a good 4-5 seconds at a constant rpm then it eventually drops back down. You notice it too when you are driving and shifting between gears. I know that it has something to do with the carbs I just don't know what it could be. Any responses in helping me to remedy this problem would be tremendously appreciated.

I don't really know, but maybe your idle mix screws are messed up, and as a result you have your idle speed adjust turned in too far. let it idle and adjust each idle mixture screw on top of the carbs until you get the highest rpm idle, then unscrew the rpm speed adjust to compensate, also if you sync the carbs it would help too. I don't know if this is the problem, but this may help, even if it does not it will help your bike run better.
    Good Luck,
    Nick

Your problem is usually because of a lean mixture. Make sure the throdle & choke cables are adjusted properly. Adjust mix screw out 2 turns from lightly seated. Make sure to sync the carbs

Out of synch carbs will do that I'm told.

Aren't these classic intake leak signs?
