I know some of the L models (like my 650 and 850) have 16-inch rear tires, and the standard models are larger, but I am not sure if they are 17- or 18-inch. There is also the possiblity of a difference between chain-drive and shaft-drive models.

The standard model came with an 18" wire rear wheel. 17" wheels were standard on the E model.

Also, the 18" wheels are 2.15" wide, the 17" wheels are 2.50"

Rear spacers are different between the 18 and 17. I have a few sets of the 17", but normally run Akront 18" rims (spoked) front and back (using a GS400 or any other 18" front wheel model speedo drive). The cast wheels should be good if you can find them.

Most gs550E have 18 in the back. A good match is an 18" in the front from a smaller gs 450 or 250. This is what I have now. 130/80/18 rear and 100/90/18 front.............If any one knows of another model with a 18" front let me know. Parts from a small gs (below 550) are harder to find.
