Take a look at my plugs... one carb rich??

    '82 GS850GL

The plug on the left is from the far right hand cylinder and looks like it came from a soot factory. The plug on the right is representative of the rest of my cylinders. I assume the fuzzy one is running rich..... I have also noticed some backfiring on decel (from that side I think). I am not sure why. I did a complete carb clean following the instructions here a few weeks ago. With the other three plugs/carbs looking good what could be the problem (and solution)? I am running everything stock (as far as I can tell) with a uni-filter foam air filter.

the idle mixture screws are all turned out equally? turning the screw on the rich cylinder in a turn or so may cure the rich mixture.

That's a tough one. Hard to figure what would cause too much gas or too little air to that one cylinder. I wondered about an ignition problem (wires or plug cap) with that cylinder, but I guess the plug would be wet if that were the problem.

What was the bike running like before the carb cleaning?

Also looks like a float level could be off. A high float level will let that carb run rich.

By the way, excellent photography. Good, clear picture, but can you find a way to resize it? Either shoot at a lower resolution or use a free-ware program called Irfanview to resize it. Suggested maximum might be 800x600. Most of us are probably using a bit more than that on our monitors, and for the few that might be using a monitor resolution of 800x600, there will be minimal scrolling involved. Makes it a LOT easier to see the whole picture at one time, and it keeps your text from scrolling across the entire width of the picture. Thanks
