Having problems Suzuki gs550
Hello, I have a freind that swears this is the best place to get some info. I have a Suzuki gs550 I think its a 1979. 4Cyd. I got it and I have been tring to get it running. I R&R the carbs and cleaned them, I got it running but it will only run on the 2 right cyl. I have spark on all cyd. I have not checked the for fuel in the left carbs but I will be tonight. I checked the points and they look ok. just wondering if anybody has heard of this problem. I also noticed that the wires that run to each cyl are labled. They are labled like this from left to right. 1,3,2,4. 1 and 2 are on one coil and 3 and 4 on the other. Please help......Tags: None

Thanks
I will try that, I think that I did not write the info down correctly. I will have to check the routing again. This has been bugging me all day. It may be the way that ypu said but I will have to check again. Thanks hope to talk to ya later tonight.

If it is wired correctly, and you are seeing spark from all the plug leads, your next bet is carbs...yes I know...you've done them, but, depending how everything is set up, they may still be the culprit. Also, a compression test may be in order, just to save time in the future. How many miles on the bike? Have you reset the valves? The fun just begins now! \\/

Thanks again
It has 20,000 miles and I have know idea if the valves have been adjusted. I will check compression tonight and have to go from there. I want to thank you again for the help. This thing has been a pain in the but. I have fixed alot of sleds and atvs but this older stuff gets me once and awhile. I will do some checking and post the results later tonight. Thanks again.

Thanks for all the help
I would like to thank you for your help on the bike. I checked compression and found that is all ok. When I cleaned the carbs I cleaned everything. But I did not clean thr air/fuel adjustment screw port. So I went to pull them out and found the right side screws were adjusted at 2.5 turns and the left side was adjusted to .75. I readjusted them and ran it they started to fire and I checked the exhaust temps and adjusted so all the carbs were running around the same temp. I drove it for about 5 miles and it ran great. It was a cold ride last night. Temp temp was 21 deg. But none the less it was nice to get it running and out on the rode. Thanks for all your help.:-D
