Well it worked for me - I bought a GS1000L motor (which had been bored to 1100 with MTC pistons) from a wreck and used the cylinder block and pistons on my GS1100GK bottom end. No problems at all fitting the parts together. The issues relating to lousy petrol and MTC high compression was another story...
(GS1000 / GS1100 means two valve motors where I come from)

differences between the 1100 "G" and the 1000 engine are more than just bore size Suzuki chose for some odd reason to bore and stroke the 1000 out to 1100cc.
70mmX64.8mm for the 1000 and 72mmX66mm for the 1100
now the cylinders should fit but I do not know if the wrist pin sizes are the same or if the distance to the crown of the wrist pin holes are the same.
if they are the same you will have a GS 1066!!
the big bore kits that take the 1000 out to 1100 are just big bore they reach 1100 by taking the bore out 3mm. factory is 2mm with a 1.2mm longer stroke.
the 16 valve 1100 (chain drive) has the same bore and stroke as the 8 valve (shaft drive) engine but the 16 valve pistons are "flat top" and the 8 valve uses "dome top" pistons so they are not compatible.

The 8 valve motors and the 16 valve motors have different stud locations.
