getting that throttle cable back on?

    So,
I put the carbs together after a less then thorough cleaning(lets hope its enuf eh?) and get ready to put them on the bike...slide them in...put them in the carb boots...oh crap, the throttle cable i forgot, take the carbs back out of the carb boots and go to attach the cable....and I can't for the life of me put it on...any suggestions?

Not sure what you're doing or how you're doing it, or if this will help, but... with my Yamaha, it's easiest to attach first at the carb while pulled off the boot slightly, then attach it to the handle. Got similar advice for my Honda. Haven't had to do it yet on the GS.

I get the carbs into the general area, then, using all three of my hands (don't ask ) I hold the throttle open all the way to get the cable hole into view, and slide the cable in from the side. After connecting the cable, I will slide the carbs into the intake boots.

Well, once winter is over we can head up north for some scenic riding. I've been meaning to do that road which runs across the Whites up in NH. Until then, let me know when you want to meet at motorcycle cafe on 119. I've got family stuff going on most weekends but if it's a nice day I can drop by for a bit after work.
