Brian, say again, never seize never where?

    Never-Seize never where?
Was it any bolt into aluminum head? Dont use never-seize on any bolt into aluminum head?

Also, I now have a Real Gasket cam cover gasket. Is silicon rubber and lot thicker than stock fiber gasket. Mr. Harold there at Real Gasket said to tourque to only 15 inch pounds. Clymers says 3 to 7 foot-lbs. So I wonder if maybe should use some locktight on that?? Which kind??

And, yes, I have new fork seals also.

hand tight for the real gasket VERY small dab of silicon on the bolt threads if you are worried about them comming loose

Use the loctite (blue) on the valve cover bolts. Because you torque them to such a low value, it shouldn't be a problem.

I go with Lynn's suggestion for bolts that are to very low torque values and you dont want them to vibrate out. This is one of very few uses I have found for silicone. For this purpose, you (as I do sometimes) can smear a little three bond on the threads or even lacking that, a bit of Elmers carpenters glue will work equally well. Blue loctite will do too, but its way overkill. :-)

Even hand tight is usually too much for a Realgasket. Lots of people overtorque these, which cuts the gasket and makes it leak.

I use two fingers on a t-handle that's maybe 6 or 7 cm across. Look at it this way -- 15 inch pounds is 1.25 foot pound -- that's a 1.25 pound force on a lever one foot long, or just 2.5 pounds on a lever six inches long. It's hard to even find a torque wrench that reads that low.

If you can resist the urge to overtorque a Realgasket, you'll find that it's springy enough to put upward tension on the bolts and keep them from loosening.

You want to compress the gasket no more than a third of its thickness. I've never had a valve cover bolt loosen, and I don't use any sort of thread locker on my valve cover bolts. YMMV, so you might try the green Loctite or a wee dab o' silicone if you're paranoid. I think the larger bikes might vibrate more and might have more problems than the 850.

Blue Loctite is overkill and will eventually damage threads in aluminum if you use it more than a few times. It is called for on 6mm and 5mm case bolts and things that don't get disassembled regularly. Green low-strength Loctite is safe on 6mm and smaller fasteners into aluminum or steel.

Red Loctite is only used on steel/steel threads that you don't want to ever take apart without impact and/or heat. It will destroy aluminum threads on the way out.

On stainless case cover bolts (clutch cover, alternator cover, etc.), you have to use a dab of anti-sieze. Loctite is not needed on these.

I got a bicycle torque wrench that will easily read the low torque settings for the Real Gasket:
