funny thing here is i have never owned a bike! and my dumb ass went for a test run with no helment or eye wear... well i got my first bug in the eye (didnt even make it to the end of my street) had to turn around and come home my freakin eye is watering like crazy and my nose is running lol ,. guess i had to learn the hard way , but hey the bike is fast and fun ! thanx for the help .. now i need safty gear

Actually, you needed the safety gear before you went for a ride.

Now you will know first-hand WHY you need some of it. Recommended at all times, includes helmet, eye protection, gloves and over-the-ankle boots. Of course, long pants are assumed, long sleeves are preferred. In addition to this you can go with the latest in mesh/Kevlar protection or leather, your choice.

Glad to see that was the only extent of the damage. Next time, put the gear on while the bike is warming up. You and the bike will be ready to go about the same time. \\/

What's the last thing to go through a bugs mind when he hits your windshield? (or your eye?)

His @#s. Glad your bikes running....sounds like we need to keep an eye on you.

speaking of bugs in the eye...

8-[ A buddy of mine was out changing his oil right, and there were leaves and cob webs stuck under the engine. So he goes and gets on his back looks under the enginge to clear all this stuff out. To make a long story short, bug debris, dirt, leaves, everything falls into his eyes a few days later has a red eye irritation, goes to the doctor points to his eye and says" hey doc, does this look ok?" Doctor examines his eye and says to him "sorry to say this but, you've got a larve growing in your eye!" SOo, the moral of the story is!!.....Wear eye protection!\\/

Damn parasites! Can't stand bugs...especially inside the house or on my bike! Just be glad we don't have to deal with these things while riding! (Sorry, I saw a Discovery show recently).

Get yourself a nice helmet and you won't have to worry about those. I can recommend a HJC CL-33. You get the bug protection of a full face but it feels like you are riding open face. It's also very comfortable and has good hearing protection for an open face. It's also a great value.

This reminds me of the first time I left the full face at home & threw on a half-helmet. I hadn't gone a 1/2 mile when the car in front of me kicked up a small stone that smacked me right square in the nose! Blood was all over my face before I could get pulled over.
