    Positions please!

I'm 5'10 1/2" and the reach to the bars is just about right...my only 'complaint' for long range is the seat will "jam" you into the tank a little, but I guess thats' what the little tank pads are for.
Of course the vibration needs to be addressed but I found a little shifting of the feet on the pegs & you'll find a sweet spot where there is no vibration coming thru.
It was good enough for me to endure a days worth & 168 miles in one "sitting"
    Rick......

The 1150e does have higher bars than the ES model, I have had my ES for four years now and find the spares backup to be excellent, the vibration issue is easily dealt with and has been discussed at length else where on this forum, I recommend you go for it.

I rebulit my EF version to E version in year 2001, not to much work, bought all parts including handle bars as Suzuki stock spares.

It was worth the effort... much more comfortable riding...

          Dink,

Is there a solution for the vibration problem?

I thought I read all posts related to this topic?

          BTW:

          My 1150 is also vibrating......

            Karl there is,
1: Be certain of carburettor synchronisation, spot on not near enough!
2: Replace the rubber engine mount bushes in the front engine mounts!
3: Retorque all engine mounts regularly to the correct torque specs!
            torque specs are:
50.5-63.5 lb-ft for the front and rear upper mount bolts.
40.0-47.5 lb-ft for the rear lower mount bolt.
36.0-43.5 lb-ft for the lower mount bolts under the front of the motor.

I've been trying to find out what makes the 1150's vibrate so much more than the other GS's. I've said before that Suzuki knew the 1150's were going to vibrate, thus the rubber engine mounts, & vibration dampeners in the handlebars & on the foot pegs. I've seen several tips to try to hide, or mask, the vibration, but no clues as how to eleminate it. Any ideas???

                KZ,

Did you leave the fairing on? Trying to figure out if the E clipons would work with the fairing. The left looks like it would be fine but the right is a concern because of the master cylinder, it comes awfully close to the fairing when the bars are swung all the way to the left.

what kind of fairing? An ES fairing has lots of room for at least a few different types of handlebars.

                    Thanks for your tip Dink,

1: Is planned, as I have dismounted the carbs this winter.
                    2: worth trying
3: Hmmm...I have actually dropped one smaller engine bolt, so I have retorqued anyway, never thought of that it could have any influence on the vibrations.....

                    BTW:

What do you mean by "spot on not near enough!"?

                      Pjackson,

No I did not leave the fairing on.

                      The bike as EF, stock

Same bike repainted and rebuild to E -model (the blue and white one)

I'm afraid I cant answer you if there is enough space then you mount the E-model handlebars and leave the fairing on.

Note that the master cylinder is different on E and ES/EF models, I use the EF master cylider on the E-model handlebar and it works fine.

You have to prolong the hydraulic hose (line?) with approx. 3 cm, if you use the ES/EF mastercyl on the E handlebars.

If you look close on the pictures you can see that the master cylinder is leaning down a little bit to the left.

I just have to be careful as I add brake fluid and turn the steering wheel to the far right, as the master cylinder top-cover is back on it's no problem.

If you have the E-model mastercylinder on a ES/EF handlebar I'm not sure if it works.

I had seen both these pictures before on your website and assumed it was two different bikes. You did a great job on the conversion!
Maybe I'll look into doing this for next winter.

Karl I mean that each carb has to match exactly.

                            Hey Karl,
Where did you get that tinted windscreen on the EF? I've been looking for one for a long time, mine is all discolored and cracked looking. any help would be much apreciated.

                              Hi Mookie,

I'm afraid the windscreen was mounted then I bought the bike, and my "EF-parts" are stored elsewhere.

The windscreen is a little bit higher than stock and tinted, I think it was a label on it and I can check for the label next time I'm at the "store-place".

This is a copy of an email I got from zero gravity

We make a windscreen for the GS1150es and ef models. I've attached a picture of this bike below. If this is the same bike as the efe model then you can order a smoke windscreen from us by calling us at 1-800-345-9791. It's priced at $69.95 plus $6.50 shipping. Ask for part number 20-168-02. Thanks .. . . ZG

I haven't ordered one yet but plan too.
