    surfacing brake rotor?

I'm still not getting the kind of brake power I expecct from the 750T. The brake lever engages immediately and is tight. I've serviced the master and caliper. Braided steel hose. New pads. Bike has almost 30k miles.

The brakes work only about 50% of what I expect and vibrate when I engage them hard.

The only thing left for me to consider is the rotor. Has anyone tried to have their rotors resurfaced?

i've had mine done at the local machine shop, It got the pulsation ouy, but didn't change the stopping power at all. I'm thinking the "T" models had single front disc & rear drum brakes. If this is correct, they probably will never stop as good as the bikes with the triple disc set up.

Turning might help if there is some kind of glaze on the rotors. Or if they have excessive thickness variation, or runout. They need to be measured with a micrometer and a dial indicator.

What kind of pads did you get? I'm just starting testing my new ones out that I got last week, but initially thy seem to have doubled my braking power. I didn't do anything to the rotors. I'm carefully testing whether I can lock the front wheel using one finger on the lever. I think I've gotten the front tire to squeal so far using the one finger method. But I'm proceeding carefully since locking the front wheel can be potentially troublesome. I am initially very impressed with these pads, but I'm going on a 500 mi. day ride this Sunday, and should complete my evaluation during that ride.

Oh Yeah, I bought a set of Vesrah sintered (street) pads. My previous pads were an ancient set of EBC organic pads.

        deny,

thanks for the response. I've tried both Vesrahs and EBC. Couldn't tell much difference.

Although the T is a single rotor, it should still be able to stop better than I'm seeing. The single disc is bigger than one of the twin rotors but I agree a twin rotor would stop better. They started putting twin rotors on the 750T for the '83. My 550 has a single rotor too but I can lock the wheel with two fingers, no problem. The 750T has a larger caliper but I think the rotor is identical. I wonder if I might try swapping front wheels to see if it makes a difference.
