Combo regulato/rectifier?
I saw a combination regulator/rectifier in Dennis Kirks catalogue. Does anyone have any experience with these and how do you connect one. I need a rectifier for a 78 GS 1000 and there's none to be had around here.

There are some Honda one being sold on site by Duanage that should work for you..... You might just have to eliminate the wiring that used to connect the two separate units to get it to work if you do have the rare separate one.
Z1 enterprises also sells one that should work. Take a look at the Stator Papers.

Easy fix. Get a Reg/Rec for an '80 GS1000. Only 5 wires. Three for the stator, 1 for charging, 1 for ground.

The Z1 or honda or electrex will be similar in simplicity. I thought I needed to replace mine, in the finish it was the ground that was bad.

Going with a hOnda RR will not only solve the regulating problems, you'll be using a better system of a single regulator and rectifier versus the 2 part system. PM me if you looking for one already tested and modified. I can put any length wire or connectors you need for a factory look.1981 GS650G , all the bike you need

I am looking for a r/r unit for my '80 gs750 as well. I read the Stator Papers and although they do mention a Honda r/r in there I didn't register maybe where it says it is a better unit. Is this true? I have been wondering about other possible r/r's to put in because the exact one for my bike isn't available here used and new is $100 plus.
I will keep my eye out for one from a GS1000 and also a Honda 740 one.

The one from Z1 is about 60 bucks allegedly... haven't called them myself.
The stator papers say (as I read it) that the Honda one is better electrically but with a smaller heatsink... Duaneage says his have a bigger heatsink than Suzuki so could be a win-win.... (You could also mount it closer to the outside of the bike rather than buried).

The '04 and up CBR1000RR units work fine as well. About three times the heatsink of the GS unit and only 5 wires. No sensor wire to hook up. They can be had for $50 and less on Ebay. Only a year or so old to boot.
