    1982 gs1100g low on power

well i just got my 1st Suzuki. its a 1982 gs1100gz with only 8400 miles on it. it looks like new. the previous owner put new ngk coils new plugs and fuel filter. the air filter is a replacement UNI. the tank has no rust in it. this bike looks like it was well taken care of.
my problem is it doesn't have the power it should. it starts right up and idles and runs smooth but it doesn't seam to have the power my 82 kz550 did. i think it was just taken out of storage so maby it just needs to be ran a few tanks thru to clean out the carbs?
my 2nd question is when i lock the forks the brake light stays on it turns all the way clock wise to lock. why is this? my kz550 did the same thing. if it also can be turned counter clockwise nether bike locked counter clockwise.
    thanks

check your pipe temps, odds are it has a dead cylinder odds being it is the #1 cylinder and just running gas through it wont work as gas don't flow through a glogged carb.

the key turns counter clockwise to lock and clockwise to lock and turn on park light.

TPO paid $130 to have carbs cleaned & setup. Friend of mine has just paid $200. 2nd price is from a much bigger outfit...

Lose the inline fuel filter if you have one. It will restrict fuel flow unless it's a gravity flow with 5/16 inch flow capable.

The petcock has a filter that goes into the tank itself. Take it out and clean it. See if removing the filter helps preformance. Also clean the gas cap vent with carb cleaner.(inside gas cap is a ball bearing that should rattle about) This prevents the fuel tank from venting and flowing.
Make sure your petcock is working properly. Most would just to suggest to get a new one since of it's age and not it's use. (low milege)

There is also two vent lines that come out between the carbs. Make sure these are free of debris and not kinked in any way.
I'm just making sure you're getting the fuel to the carbs before you start tearing them up.

Check the petcock vacuum line for fuel If their it will foul the #2 cyl
to verify run it on prime & disconnect & plug the vacuum line
