I am going to start the process of rejetting my own carbs. I was going to send this out to be done, but as soon as I pulled them apart to switch #2 out I noticed it was something I could probably do myself. So hopefully with help from my new friends( i.e. all of you )I should be able to do this all on my own with very little problems, I hope. Origonally the 801000g had a cheap aftermarket 4to1 pipe and a stock airbox. I believe I had a petcock let go on me in early 06. Fuel in crankcase. I pulled and cleaned tank, changed oil, changed clutch, bought a 4to1 pro-drag v&h pipe, k&n pods, purchased several pilot and main jet sets. had carbs rebuilt and synced in Indian before I moved to Oregon. The suzuki shop would not rejet the carbs for insurance reasons. So I started eavesdropping on yall and got an idea. Do it yourself silly.
First question. do I start with setting air screws from idle to 1/4 throttle, pilots from 1/4 throttle to 3/4 throttle, and mains from 3/4 to wide open?
If u have any hints they would be greatly appreciated.
I've already dealt with a GSResource member to help me get my carb that I needed And that went smooth as glass. So with any luck I can do this myself and I can ride my baby back to the techs garage that screwed her up in the first place and say I fixed his screw up and lay a big strip in front of his place of bussiness.

    Did you replace the petcock?
I'd go with a Dynojet Stage 3 kit.
Do you have a baffle in the pipes?

It has'nt come in yet at the suz shop, but when it does it goes right on and then I can start seeing if it will run.
Also I have a baffle from my last pipe that fits my new pipe.
I've already spent about $85 on jets already. I don't even know what come in my carbs for stock jets. any guesses?

If at all possible I'd like to use the jets I already have. As long as they are big enough.

Well unfortunatlly I'm still waiting for my petcock to show up. I'm still wondering if anyone knows how I should start the process. Air first, pilots second, and mains last?
Or should I just start with a stage 3 setup?

We'll I just started my bike for the first time since rejetting it. At first I selected prime to get the juices flowin. Once she started and started to warm up I got good throttle response. At that point it started to fall flat on its face until it eventually died and would not start again. I opened a float drain and there was fuel in it. Any ideas anyone.

sounds like no gas.... did you check all the bowls. one alone will not keep it running... is the gas flowing? if i even try to run mine with the petcock off but gas in the carbs she acts funny...

Do you have your K&N pods installed? These carbs will not do anything above a fast idle without some sort of air filter, whether it's pods or a stock airbox.

Since you are going to have your carbs on and off several times for the jetting process, here is a quick tip:
to see if it runs, fold a shop rag in half and drape it over the carb inlets. Zip-tie it to the outer carbs to hold it in place. Now the engine will run. PLEASE NOTE: this is not the same restriction that the pods will provide, so do not use this trick on the road for your jetting checks.

In your May 7 post you say you have already spent $85 for jets and you don't even know what is in your carbs. WHY???
There are certain guidelines for how many sizes to go up based on what pods and what pipe you have. Do a search for 'Keith Krause' and 'carb jetting' and you will get enough reading to last you until all your parts come in. Don't take my word as gospel on jetting your bike, but I seem to remember that, with pods and a good pipe, you will go up about 5 sizes on the main jet. Relic-rider indicates that you have a 115 main as stock, so you would be looking for about a 140. I don't know about the other jets, but I think you might have wasted $85 unless you have a set of 140s.

yes, I do have my pods installed I started out with 140's and 47.5's for pilots. I have a brand new oem petcock on it and a V@H sidewinder pipe.

It's true I probably wasted $85 dollars but I might need them down the road sometime u never know.
