GS 750 with GS 1100 Motor
I'm looking for some help on a conversion. I want to install a GS1100 motor into a GS 750 frame....has anyone done this with a positive result. I received a picture from another member but it appeared that the original mount was used minus on bolt. Does anyone have a template they've used for this conversion?Tags: None

I know it has been done before here, I just can't remember who at the moment.
Someone will help out.
I took a photo eons ago of a conversion at the drags in Louisiana.

I've done it, its pretty easy if I recall correctly, mind you I'm remembering from about 1988. I seem to remember the front and rear mounts fit the same for either engine. Its the mid engine mounts that are different. Mount the engine to the front and rear mounts, make a cardboard template of the bolt holes for the mid engine mounts and just cut them out of some 1/8" or thicker steel plate. I used a plasma cutter but a hacksaw and file would work as well. Once you have the template just quickly rough out the outside shape of the steel, drill the holes first, you'll likely have to do it more than once to get them in the perfect position. Then spend time making the outside nice once you know the holes are right. I really don't remember anything else being a pain. I'm assuming you have an early 80's 750 and 1100 motor.Last edited by Guest; 05-07-2007, 09:46 PM.

Wow, a Murray sidewinder. I had almost forgotten about those. Terry Vance was the "Godfather" back then, any bike he and Byron decided to run kicked big butt. Funny thing is it looks like he's wearing an Orient Express t shirt. Thanks for the flash back!

Just to clarify, I put a rod through the front of my 83 GS 750 motor on sunday. So my bike is dead in the water. Yet my dad has 4 complete GS1100 motors sitting in his garage from racing mini sprints. I can take one of those motors, make a stencil of the mid bolt pattern, cut the current mid mounts off and drill new holes to mount the 1100?
Thanks for your help much appreciated.

There are a couple sites that sell 7/11 brackets to serve this purpose. From my understanding, you dont have to change anything on the frame to do this, simply swap out the brackets.
Ive been to so many sites i couldnt be for sure where the last place i saw them was, but maybe FlyNCycle.com? Anyone else help him out on these?

OOOO the 83 750 is third generation GS and is a different creature.
Motodan has a 7/11 but his is a 80 or 81 and it's just the middle mount that needs adjusting.
when Suzuki designed the 3rd gen 750 they shaved a heap of weight out of them and it is smaller dimensionally that its predecessor.
on the plus side early Gixxer engines fit nicely as the 83 and up 750 is what the early gixxer engine was based from.

my 1100 valve cover don't look like that!
then again the rest of the world calls the 1150 a 1100.

Hey guys, I'm sort of in the same boat. Are the frames different between an '82 1100 shafty versus a '80 750 chain bike? I know I'll have to swap the swingers, but I do know if they will interchange? Thanks for any info!
