Hi all, it's my first post. Great community here. I just inherited an '81 GS850G from my dad. He was kind enough to crash it before he gave it to me :-) Anyway, this is my first time fixing a bike and I too had a problem with the bike stalling as soon as I was letting the clutch out. It seems the reason was because I had the petcock in the "prime" position. I switched it to "on" and the problem went away. I understand the basic concept of priming, but I'm such a noob I don't know if it should kill the engine when I engage the clutch and try to move. All I can say is that seems to be what "fixed" my problem.
