    flat curve, popping, and hesitation

    I have an 82 1100 GK with pods, stock jetting, 4>2 with stock sprtster cans. [it came that way] haha. I'm having a lot of trouble tuning it. I had the carbs synced but the flat spot is still there and its bad. totally falls on its face about 3k rpms to about 4500. then above 5k its a screamer. anyone have any advice or ideas on how to make it run better?

    Pods and stock jetting. Flat spots. You're lean at all 3 jetting circuits.
    It's very hard to guess the right jetting because of your exhaust. But I'll give my opinions.
    For starters, I'd try larger mains, about 4 full sizes up from stock (20). If that exhaust really does flow better, then another full size up (5).
    The jet needles, if non adjustable, will have to be raised by shimming. I'd try about 2 full positions higher than stock. That means you need spacers about .90" thick.
    Increase the pilot jet by 5.
    Adjust mixture screws using the highest rpm method.
    You may still need larger air jets. If throttle response is poor, you'll need to increase/drill out the vacuum orifices to the diaphragm chambers. Your CV carbs can be tricky to re-jet, especially with your exhaust.
    Test the mains at full throttle, the jet needles at 1/3 and the pilot circuit at minimal throttle. Chop off and do what the plugs/performance say.
    And on the seventh day,after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
    Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

        Oops. I hope no one took that literally. I meant .09"
        And on the seventh day,after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
