How much fork oil in '81 GS750EX?

How much oil do the forks take on an '81 GS750EX? Oz. or CC. I'm planning on flushing out the old oil, let them drain overnight, then replacing with 15w oil. Will ATF work the same? Any particular type? (Mercon, type F, etc.) I'm also planning on capping the air ports since the PO broke the valves and apparently it's unnecessary to put air in my forks. Not going the Progressive spring route yet, want to see how it handles with fresh oil/no air first.

    I don't have the specs for a 750EX.

    GS(X)750E 237ml (8.01-8.34 OZ) Code E-01, 28,30
    230ml (7.77-8.10 OZ) others

fork oil level 229mm 9.0s inchs.

    Won't be far away....

My Clymer calls for this on the EX:

      191cc 6.5 oz
      227mm / 8.9 inches

        81 Owner's Manual says:

191 ml per each fork = 6.45 oz

Right off page 61 in the owner's manual.

Also: 10psi - 14.4psi max in shocks with 25psi front - 28psi rear tires or it will ride like a fat hog with poor braking and handling. I assume you are replacing the seals?? The book only calls for fork oil...so I would use that light shock oil not any other oil.

It doesn't take much to lose all the air when checking. I bought a very small gage and use it quickly so as not to even lose the small amount in the gage each time.
