    Heli-coil

    Where would I be able to pick up some heli coils for a cam cap cover? Any hardware store?

    Probably hard to find that size at most hardware stores. Possibly Auto Zone, Advanced Auto parts, or O'Rileys Auto parts. Fastenal should should have them on the shelf

      Yup. Fastenal will be quite a bit more expensive, but the product they sell has a few more coils in it as I recall.

        I've bought Heili-Coil kits in two sizes, one for the exhaust flange bolts, and one for the valve cover bolts. Each kit was between $40-50. I got the first one at a machine tool supply shop, and the second one here;

        McMaster-Carr is the complete source for your plant with over 595,000 products. 98% of products ordered ship from stock and deliver same or next day.

        It was a different brand name than Heli-Coil, but still high quality. I liked the insert tool a little better than the Heli-Coil one. If you buy the kit, you get a drill, tap, insert tool, and a number of inserts.

        Having the extra inserts is nice, because it will slightly decrease the chances of needing one again.
