blurry mirrors
Hello all, and good day! My name is Dennis and I have a question. I recently bought an '83 GS850G and it's great! Except, that is, for the mirrors buzzing and being blurred. I do not have the stock bars or mirrors on the GS but have bought off of e-bay and will install them ASAP when received. Other than installing original components, what can I do to eliminate the blurred vision? Have a fine day! DennisTags: None

Definitely helps if the engine is running as smoothly as possible, but stock parts will also help. The stock handlebars had weights built into the ends, and the mirrors have hollow stems. If you also have the mirror mounts with the rubber inserts in them, it's not too bad...

Check the weights in the ends of the bars. I had a terrible buzzing on one side. I found the weld holding the weight had broke and it was rattling around loose in there.

My stock mirrors blew cause all I could see was my shoulders. I bought some cheap Emgo mirrors which are OK but do buzz over 85 MPH. I can live with that.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.

The stock mirrors are mounted to these rubber insert thingys that pretty much quell vibration. My mirrors work quite well, aside from the fact that I have to move my head around to see anything except my wider-than-average shoulders (but I'm used to that, having been immense my whole life).
If the rubber mounts are missing, you can still order them.

I see you've gotten some good advice Dennis.....Just in case you have an aftermarket windshield bolted to the handlebars, I've fought with various ones for the exact problem you've described (not to mention buzzing my hands to sleep!). Removing the frigger ended the problem in 2 instances.
