    stiff clutch

    help definitely needed
    I have a 1982 GS650G shaft drive model which I have recently just changed the clutch plates on.
    But now the clutch is very stiff , wear as before you could pull it in with one or two fingers you now have to use agood hand full.
    The clutch springs were replaced at the same time and every procedure
    from the clymer manual was followed properly and the cable is routed correctly.
    I would be most grateful for some advice

    I have a :?

    You may want to make sure the cable itself is running freely in the housing. Also, did you get heavier springs then you had before?

      It's common for the kit springs to be stiffer. Some guy use half new and half old springs.

        Hi Joy;
        Did you use the Barnett performance plates and springs ??
        These springs are VERY STIFF. I have them too. WOW on the hand and forearm.

          If you didn't use stock springs, it will assuredly be stiffer. I ended up shimming my old springs with sparkplug washers. Works great. No slipping, easy pull on the lever. I had EBC springs from J.C Whitney, but they were way too long.
