    Air pods? for a 1981 550lx

Yeah sort of wrote the question in the title, I am thinking about switching from the stock airbox setup to a single pod per carb. I read through the forum and hear about alot of guys having to rejet the carbs. Is this always necessary or just with high flow filters ie k&n. also were is a good place online to purchase these parts. thanks 8-[

    It's necessary to rejet.

I would not recommend from what people have said, it makes tuning a real pain and the hp/trq gain does not warrant the effort put forth.

I simple went for a drop in k&n filter and got the best of both worlds. Stock airbox, and high flowing filter.

I agree. To keep things from melting down, and to take full advantage of the extra air that would be available, you must rejet. As mentioned, however, the power gain from just adding the pods is minimal. The only difference you are likely to notice is noise when you open the throttle. Yeah, it's sorta like turning the lid over on the filter housing of the old 4-barrel carbs of yester-year, but I find that it gets annoying after a while.

I have pods on the 650, but I don't notice the intake noise so much because it gets drowned out by the header.
