    Locating Torque Specs

    Dear fellow GS'rs,
    After replacing the rear tire and rear wheel bearings I'm in the process of reassembling my rear wheel on my 78 GS750EC and reassembling the front forks. I went to my Haynes manual to look for the torque specs for the bolts for the pinch clamps for the front forks, the torque specs for the rear brake disc bolts, rear sprocket bolts, and axel nuts. To my surprise I could find no torque specs in my Haynes manual anywhere for any of these items.......or almost any items at all for my 78.
    Am I overlooking these specs somewhere in my manual?
    Can anyone tell me where I can find the torques specs for my bike on line?
    Thanks for your help!

    After market manuals

    The Haynes and Clymer manuals are good for lots of different jobs. The factory manuals are much more comprehensive....as you would expect. I have the factory manual for my bike and it's got information on just about everything you could ever think of. I don't know if the factory manual is available for your bike but I wouldn't be surprised if it is.

        Thanks for the info. I went to this site and they just offer the Clymers manual. The description what is in the Clymers manual says nothing about torque specs. I hate to fork out the bucks for just another manual like my Haynes that offers no torque info.

            I'd be careful with the factory manual unless you can work in Newton/meters. I have one for the 83 GS750E and that's all they quote. I will have to hunt down a conversion table to allow me to work in foot/pounds.

            For information presented, I would also say it is somewhat incomplete and geared toward the shop mechanic and not a home user. I suspect they assume the reader already knows most of the information covered.

            I find most manuals have "blank spots" in their information and or illustrations so I try to round up as many of them as I can. When working on my XS I had the Clymer and Haynes along with factory microfische on CD and a seperate electrical system review on CD.

            Information is like money in the bank.....you can never have too much.

            Cheers all,
            Spyug

              Thanks Suzuki Mad!! I did'nt think to just ask if anyone out there has a manual for a 78 GS750EC that could provide the torque specs for the following items:
              * Fork top pinch bolts.
              * Fork bottom pinch bolts.
              * Front brake caliper mounting bolts.
              * Rear brake caliper mounting bolts.
              * Front wheel axle nut.
              * Rear wheel axle nut.
              * Hanle bar clamp nuts.
              * Rear brake disc bolts.
              * Rear axle chain sprocket bolts.

              Thanks for your help with the first two Suzuki Mad!

                I don't have a 750 manual. Got 1000, 1100, 1150, slabside and slingshot genuine Suzuki manuals plus some service data books too.

                If you want me to post for the 1000/1100 I'd be happy too.

                  Torque setting GS1000/1100 in Ftlbs.

                  * Fork top pinch bolts. 11-18
                  * Fork bottom pinch bolts. 11-18
                  * Front brake caliper mounting bolts. 18-25.5
                  * Rear brake caliper mounting bolts. 18-25.5
                  * Front wheel axle nut. 26-37.5
                  * Rear wheel axle nut. 61.5-83
                  * Hanle bar clamp nuts. 8.5-14.5
                  * Rear brake disc bolts. Not shown
                  * Rear axle chain sprocket bolts. Not shown

                  If you have a suzuki manual use the table for bolts marked 4 or 7 or 'S' as each has a torque value as does unmarked bolts.
