    What could it hurt??

Hello everyone, I have read a few posts on the forum (very) few..mentioning that tornado type thing they have for cars..
(supposed to mix your fuel/air mixture better, more power bla
bla..ect) I was wondering If I made some small versions out of tin
or something and put them on my bike as an experiment, could it cause any damage? Would it be leaner? Don't expect to see much difference
really just curious. plus I had some tin snips and a few old coffee cans and allot of spare time waiting all this snow to melt Oh also while I'm here, My fork front fork seal on the right hand side is leaking, I know I need to fix this, how much does it usually cost? and how much work is Involved in changing it? any special tools required? Thanks in advance Oh by the way my bike Is a 92GS500E

Believe it or not , they just happen to have something pretty similar in the newest dennis kirk catalog. Funny someone should mention these things after so long.

Don't forget the "Fitch Fuel Catalyst". Just drop that little hand grenade lookin' thing in your tank, and watch it "alter" your gas for more horsepower. All of these gadgets will slightly increase performance, because your wallet will be significantly lighter. Funny thing is...if turbulent air is good like the "tornado" claims, why does K&N boast that it's filters straighten and stop turbulence? I've seen plenty of K&N's at the dragstrip, never saw a "tornado".

I think it is very likely a lot of hype. When racers and performance orientated riders polish the ports and carb barrels they are trying to smooth out the airflow to increase efficiency. They sure dont want to increase turbulence in the induction stream. Turbulence will decrease flow.

Earl is right. Turbulence is wanted in the combustion chamber (e.g. TSCC to distribute the air/fuel charge) not in the inlet tract ,where you want low-resitance, laminar flow.

Labor and not too much skill required. But the forks usually have to come off to do it i theeenk. I always have it done. Lots of the guys have done it themselves and will surely advise you correctly. Im gald you dropped the idea about restriction that you were going to put in your intake tubes. YOU DID DIDN'T YOU???? 8O

Hard to believe they're trying to market that idea again. Look in an old Cycle magazine from the mid 70's and you'll see ads for the same thing for motorcycles, just can't remember what they used to name them?

                          It all comes apart easy.

The only specialty tool you will need is a damper rod tool. The top of your damper rod is like a 19mm socket. rig up a male ended 19mm tool on a 2.5ft extension, and hold the damper rod with it while you turn the allen bolt on the bottom of your fork leg. As luck would have it, 19mm is the same as 3/4''. so riging up a 3/4" nut or bolt on the end of an extension will do the job.
