    back fire help

    hey everyone been working on my gs750 got the wiring figured out but then it was only firing on two cylinders fixed that by cleaning the points but now all it will do is backfire can anyone help? please[-o<

    Did you static time it per the manual?
    Light comes on when it hits the "F" mark?
    Any "burrs" on the contacts?
    .012 to .016 gap?
    Did you pull he plugs to see which point set is causing the trouble?
    (the points that fire 2,3 are on the right, 1,4 are on the left)

      no manual to the bike been tryin to feel my way through it manual would help but havent found one yet. have all plugs firing dont know if in the right order or not.

          ok firing order is correct . can the gap of the points cause it to back fire

            If your gaps are not correct your exhaust could be missing entirely or intemittently, so yes.

              Not so fast buddy. :-D
              With a car or a lawn mower you can get away with setting the point gap only and it'll run just fine. Not so with these. Static timing has to be right on. Read the link I sent you. It goes thru the whole procedure.
              Even if you don't check the advance with a strobe, set the gap and set the timing with a 12 volt light, and it'll run great.
