    Coil wire repair?

I cant afford to shell out for a new set of cables/wires. Would rapping the wires in electrical tape fix it?

    #2
Yes, you could use tape to wrap the wires.

Would it be practical? Good electrical tape is rated to insulate about 600 volts per layer. Since you are trying to insulate about 30,000 volts, it would only take 50 layers.

Still want to use tape? 8-[

you'd be better off sourcing a couple wires from a local motorcycle salvage or junk yard. or maybe ask a local shop if they have any in the trash, as chances are they threw out one bad one with one working one

Problem is the wires are inbedded into the coils. Some people have success in pulling the wires out but others are not so lucky.

One method to replace the wires is outlined in the link below. Pretty Deep-in to do a repair like this if you ask me. Many times it's the spark plug cap that's worn out not the wire. Replace the cap after snipping off about 1/2" of coil wire may be worth a try. NGK caps are available for about $5 each from places like Z1. http://www.xs11.com/tips/repair/repair24.shtml
