Gs850 motor

I have a 1980 gs850g which I am looking for a spare motor for it. Wouild a 83 850 motor fit in my bike? Thanks Ted

Yes it will.

You'll need the '83 driveshaft -- the flanges where the driveshaft bolts onto the engine are verrrrrrry slightly different.

Guess how I know this. Go on -- guess.

Let me know if you need an '83 driveshaft -- I didn't actually throw it through the wall, but I wanted to.

The ignition will be different, but it's as simple as unbolting the stuff under the early model's ignition cover and bolting it onto the '83 engine.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't heard back from the salvage yard if they still have the engine in stock. Ted
