An 1100 engine is 193 lbs. I dont expect a 1000 engine is more than a couple pounds lighter. Add pallet weight and its 200 lbs minimum.

You could but they'll charge you handsomely for it. Better to strap it yourself (onto their pallet if necessary).
You can probably get a pallet from somewhere & try someone like Watkins to pick it up, maybe yellow lines or something. I'd be inclined to build a box over the top of it too.

I'll second the crate idea. Build a plywood box just large enough for the engine to fit in without any wiggle room. Use pieces of 2 x 4 to fill in any empty spaces that could allow it to move inside the box. Attach some 2 x 4 pieces to the bottom to allow the shipper to get a forklift under. Throw a metal band around the top and another around the sides. Or have the shipper band it. Should'nt cost much for that.Last edited by Guest; 07-26-2007, 07:06 PM.

Cost depends on how far ? I would guess a MINIMUM $125 maybe as high as $200 if your shipping across country
