True or false- as the engine wears the valve clearances get tighter. I say it's true.

True for the 8 valve GS engines - general statment of course. Engines with rocker arms and more moving parts in the valve train are sometimes different.Ed

So when I reshim the three valves I have with zero clearance I should aim for the high side? Or should I make them the 0.002 the other 5 valves are at?Comment

0.002 is still too narrow a clearance, at least on my bike. Use whatever shim will give you the most clearance without going out of spec.Originally posted by Jaguarjoe View PostComment

Sorry, my bad. I was thinking in mm. not inches and that's where the confusion is I think. I always adjust to the high side, but as long as you're within spec. you'll be O.K.Comment
