Carb Cleaning Question
This is my first attempt at using a forum to get technical answers. I have to say the GS Carb Cleaning series is excellent. I removed and dismantled my BS series Mikunis from a recently acquired 1980 850G. I was unable to dip the carb bodies because I could not successfully remove the pilot jet or the air screw. I couldn't get the pilot jet out because I simply could not come up with a screwdriver small enough that would work. The air screw appeared to have been exposed to the elements for some time and after some fairly forceful attempts at getting them to even move I quit before I hosed the slot. Any tips for getting stuck air screws to come out? What about tool reccomendations or should I plan on making my own?Tags: None

go to sears and find what you need.
soak the unhappy screws in pb blaster for a few days and hit them with a heat gun. You were smart not to force the screw they both strip easy, bring a carb with you to sears and see if you can find a screw driver that fits snug in the slot.78 GS1000 Yosh replica racer project

I'll give-em a good soak in Chem-dip and then apply the heat. I'll report back and let you know the results. Thanks.

so you might consider at least that much for your "stuck screws" problem, as well.

Hey howdy hey!
Mr. mtownjake,
And welcome to the forum too! You are hereby welcomed to the GSR Forum as a Junior Member with all the rights and privileges thereof. Another GS850GT in the club! We'd be happy to see some pictures when you get a chance. Thanks for joining us.
I'm sorry for the obvious question. Have you had a chance to check your valve clearances? Carb cleaning and tuning is most effective when the valves are in spec and the airbox, carb boots, etc, are sealed with no air leaks.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
