valve seals
I have the head apart and the valves out. The clymer says pull valve seals out with a needle nose. All they do is come in pieces. Is there a technique or approach I can use to have success?Tags: None

Why is it when ever I ask it comes to me.
square off with your needle nose and fight to the death. No one said it would be pretty!

Be careful when pulling them off. I've heard of people damaging the guides from using too much force.Ed

Stick the needle nose in and push it off to one side and then down so you only have the seal in it. Then pull up.

I bought a large (like a foot long) set of needle nose pliers from Harbor Freight and customized the jaws with a Dremel tool so that they go over the seal and hook it from the bottom.
Makes it easy!
It can be done with regular needle nose pliers, but it's too easy to bung up the valve guides like that, IMHO.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

Footy.
You will find it easier if you can turn the old seals before you "pull" them. This breaks the bond to the valve guide.
