    Suzuki GS1000E Overhaul

    Hi guys!,

I am about halfway through overhauling and restoring my prize 1979 Suzuki GS1000E and I am now hitting some stumbling blocks as regards parts and advice. I have removed the carbs and bellmouths and rubbers which join the carbs to the cylinder blocked and I am led to understand that there is a o ring which seats in the rubber against the manifold is this correct please. I have struggled to locate any carb rubbers has anybody any ideas please. Please take a look at my pics of the beast at

    Bike looks NICE! Good work.

Check the following link for info on the intake boot O-ring. Your boots are hard to see in the photo but they look kind of ragged and have nipples installed on the vacuum port (similar to Kawasaki intake boots?).

Those boots are Kawasaki boots, which have the vacuum ports and NO oring. The backs have a built-up ridge on them that acts like an oring. I actually like those better, and have put them on my 1000 (alot easier to check the synch). They are also more readily available and cheaper than the Suzuki boots. You just need to drill the hole one size bigger. I bought mine on ebay. Here's a link from Tom MLC

Here's a current listing from the same guy I bought from. Looks like he ships worldwide. :-D I think new Suzuki boots are about $35-$40 EACH.

Those are Kawasaki boots. Can they be used for a GS1000?

I like the look. Gotta question the bars though. How do they feel? Looks like they're upside down and it would be hard on the wrists.
And on the seventh day, after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

Thank you very much for the replies everybody, it is greatly appreciated. Thanks Renobruce that link was spot on. It certainly does look like I have Kawasaki boots and now I have examined them further the holes have been enlarged. I shall be trying those ebay links you have provided.
