I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.

That piece was testing my patience, so I took the best alternative I could.

Sorry I took so long to update. It finally got nice enough outside to ride. Anyway, from what I can tell, there are no oil leaks. Usually there are leaks when I see oil on the garage floor and there is none. I can still smell burning oil, but I'm sure this is just oil left over from the leak burning off.

Also, I'm not sure if this is a related problem or just something that's been ongoing and haven't noticed, but smoke seems to be coming out of both the exhaust manifold and the air filter pods. Not a lot, but some. If it helps, I haven't ridden in a week and it's really humid here. And my air filters (K&N) haven't been cleaned since early spring.

You know what, I think I'll get the cable and junk. Anyone know what part #'s I'll need? It's tough to see it on the microfiche.

                  34940-47033 CABLE ASSY,TACH

                  09289-05002 OIL SEAL

                  26451-45000 SEAL BAND

26431-47003 GEAR TACHO DRVN This one is not cheap. You might want to check your old one for wear before ordering.

You are still going to have to get that cable off someway or another. Maybe clamp the end is a vice after you take the cover off?

                  Good luck.

I still haven't figured how I'm gonna get it off. Once I get the parts in, any Chicago area GS-ers wanna help me out with that?

Update: I got the cable off with some locking pliers. Thanks for the help and I'll let you know how it turns out once I get my parts.
