    possible jetting issue??

    Hi all,

I tried to do a search but couldn't find anything to help me. I recently sync'd the carbs on my 81 GS850G. I did this according to the Clymer manual. My problem is this, I am still getting a slight raspy exhaust note on the upper rpm range for each gear. It sounds like it's running out of gas. It also stumbles and pops during warm up. Again, I set carbs 1 & 4 slightly higher than 2 & 3. The bike has a 4 into 1 exhaust with the stock air filter. What should I do to smooth things out? It does pull a lot smoother and stronger than before.

    Thanks,

    Scott

Did the bike get jetted for the 4-1 exhaust? What type of 4-1 is it. Some companies have jetting reccomendations listed on their websites.

I'm not sure if it was jetted or not.

What Chef says. Check the carbs for more than stock jetting. Some 4 into 1's don't need jet changes (not many) but I'd check for sure. Motorcycles are very tempramental when it comes to carbs. Go to this site it may help. http://www.factorypro.com/tech_tunin...m_engines.html
