    Attn. carb guru's

    What is the difference in pilot jets, with side holes vs. ones' without them? Is the sizing the same? (ie numeric value)

    If you use anything except OEM parts, your next question won't be nearly as easy to answer as this one was.

      I got them from a suzuki dealer, they came in factory labeled baggies. They looked them up from the listing for those carbs. SO, is there a differance or not?

        Are they for the same series of carb and are the numbers the same or different? I ask this because Mikuni makes a lot of different carb types, over a lot of years, and there is sure to be differences. My "guess" is that there are subtle differences between the type with holes in from the side. Not sure how significant the differences are though.

          If it is the right pilot jet and the number matches it should work. The # on the jet is fuel flow rate.
          1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.

            If they were ordered for your year and model and they don't match the ones you currently have either someone before you changed them or the person who looked them up made an error. I don't know the difference if any but if you trust the dealer did it right I would try them. I would save the old ones as an insurance policy. Anytime you move away from OEM you will get less help with your questions because jetting is like rolling dice and no 2 bikes are the same.

              The holes are there to help atomize the fuel passing through.
              The mixture will obviously be richer if you run the jets without holes.
              And on the seventh day,after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
              Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

                This goes without saying. Even if you never use them they may come in handy for someone else in the future. Perhaps, someone from this forum.
