BS32* carb interchangeability w/in the bank?

    82 GS650G - stuck pilot screws in 2 & 3.

Which cylinder's carbs will work with other cylinders? It looks like #2 may be the only one that's different, and that could be worked around. #1 & #4 have caps on the butterfly rod, but they look like they would come off.

I'm looking at a set of carbs that are kinda krusty and am afraid that they'll have stuck pilot screws as well. But if at least two come out it would still work if they are all interchangeable.

    Thanks & Cheers

I don't think you can swap different carb numbers. Carb 1 for 4 ect.... Some of the vent line ports are plugged ect....
If you have some old carbs get them off the rail and take off what you can and dip them in Berrymans or some good carb dip for a day or so. You should be able to get the screws out.
Also give PB Blaser a try. Pretty good stuff.
Use an impact driver to get the carbs off the rails.

Ah, the vents. You are right.

So it looks like only 2 & 3 are interchangeable.

Yeah I should dip whatever I get first.

Don't forget the throttle cable linkage is on one of those carbs.
        Have you seen this

Yeah, that page has been a big help.

Wouldn't the throttle attachment at the butterfly be compatible with the others?

You would have to move around the choke and throttle cable assembly and move the choke cable assembly on the choke rail. PITA!

Hmm, this is getting worse by the minute.

So, none of them are interchangeable then I guess.

I would't worry. There are LOTS of these carbs out there. You'll get it together. Post a thread in the parts wanted. Someone here might be able to help.
I'll bet you can get those old carbs to work. All you really need is the carb bodies which don't rust. Swap all your innards with them. Dip them first. Then soak a little PB Blaster in there and use a little heat with a small torch. They'll come out.

                  Thanks, I appreciate it.

Well, I finally found a machine shop that will take a look at it tomorrow morning. Plus a forum member has some, so things are looking up slightly.

I've tried to attach a pic of the mess I made.

                  Cheers

You can still get that out. Soak it overnight in PB Blaster. If you don't have a dremel get one. With a cutter blade cut some of the depth out of the carb body screw hole. Cut a notch in the top of the screw so you can get a good screwdriver on it. Use heat if necessary.

Ha, it's been soaking in PB Blaster for 2 weeks. I wish I had asked earlier about cutting off some of that tube. I was just sure that would be unadvisable.

Maybe I should try that before taking it to the machine shop. I don't know, it seems like I have the anti-midas touch these days.

                      Thanks for the help.

Is this the only carb that's buggered?

Heat works well with carbs - melts the varnish. I was having a heck of a time getting a stuck slide out and after hitting it with a heat gun the slide fell loose under it's own weight.

What I would do is get a drill that just fits into the recess Drill just enough to get a pilot indentation. Then drill with a 1/8" left twist drill bit. Don't go more than 1/4"- 3/16 in depth. If you are lucky it will turn itself out If not, Then use an easyout to get it the rest of the way

                              Well, I'm making some headway.

Say hello to my little friend...... the torch. That other one should come out with some heat.

                              Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
