    Will Honda CB900F Regulator/Rectifier Fit

Hi. Can anyone tell me if the rectifier/regulator from a 2004 Honda CB900F 919 Hornet fit and do the job on a '77 GS550B Suzuki. The part number is SH689GA...Reg/Rec has 7 wires.

    Regards

I'm pretty sure your bike has a separate regulator and rectifier. I don't know what year they switched over to the integrated version but considering your bike is the first year it should be separate. Of course you could just rewire the entire charging system which is the recommended procedure anyway. If that's the case I think you can use the newer R/R. I have a R/R off a 2004 CBR600 and it has 3 yellow wires (for connection to the stator wires) and two pairs of red/black - so basically same as 5 wires. Hook up with a fuse in between the red and battery and wire everything else directly. I'm not sure if it's best to hook up the extra red to feed the main loom or not (I haven't hooked mine up yet).

Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks Nessism. I do have separate regulator and rectifier. I was planning to replace them with a single unit. I had seen a lot of posts about the Honda 6 wire unit, but I was not sure about the 7 wire R/R. But from what you say 2 of the wires are the same color code, I guess they are to pick up the current load (one to tail light and one to headlight). I had planned to disconnect the AC voltage that runs through the light switch and just use it to operate the DC side of things. How does that sound to you. Any ideas on where to hook up the two wires that detect current load other than the tail light and headlight.
      And thanks for your help.

      Regards. Don.

I don't know about that particular R/R, you should check the Honda manual for a wiring diagram. On the CBR R/R I bought there is no sense wire per say. It's basically a simple 5 wire R/R.
