    Mikuni Smoothbore Carb question

I bought some mikuni smoothbore carbs on ebay last week and Im pretty damn confused. It looks as though someone has drilled into where the carb intake boots go into the engine and put some allen head bolts in them. Can anyone tell me why someone would do this.?

maybe they did it to sync the carbs.some bikes dont have a sync port in the intake.

Take those out and that is where the nitrous goes in 8-[...

You may try messaging the seller and asking him what he use them for...

I don't know what those screws are for but I'm going to guess it they were installed for carb synching too. I'd get ones short enough to no interfere with the airflow or cut those ones short for the same reason.
If you cut or grind the existing screws down to size you should thread a nut of the right size down on them first, that way you can use it to chase the threads that will get manged in the cutting or grinding.
Just turn the nut off by hand until it starts to get hung up on the threads then use a wrench and go back and forth with it working over the damaged threads. Works like a charm!

thanks for all the help guys! You were right I talked to the guy I got them from. They are for carb syncing. I definately will take the bolts down too. I thought it was weird having them stick out so far.

yea, those will screw with the high speed air flow. then again they would also help break up big droplets improving efficiency and improve fuel economy. lol

Hey guys.. do I have to use the push/pull set up on these? Also, anyway I can find out what model they are. Id like to redo the gaskets and go threw them.
