    spewing oil

so my buddy is buying my 1986 gs400s (hard to let that puppy go)

we were pixing it up for safety as it has not been ridden in a couple of months.. and low and behold.. the oil is over filled.. (I have no idea, that i will admit to, as to how that happened)

I'm thinking there was about 1.5L too much in there..

not that I need help fixing this, but we only noticed when we pulled the vent tube (leading from the top of the engine to the air box) off of the air box, and saw oil shoot about 3 or 4 feet....

I only want to know.. what on earth is causing that?? how is that much pressure accumulating?

This is purely for amusement sake.. don't trouble your selves too much.

Smell the oil, it probably contains gasoline?
Petcock and/or float issues can fill your oil with gas.

Life is too short to ride an L.

It could also have a head gasket leak, which would cause pressurized oil to spray, or a cracked piston ring or piston......several possibilities.....

Maybe the extra oil has plugged the breather which has allowed the crankcase to pressurize? Sounds like your friend is lucky the pressure didn't blow out some seal.
